In 2008 NVB completed a boarding house for the upper sixth at St Mary’s School. In 2012 NVB were approached to design a boarding house for 70 lower sixth students, to be completed in 2 years. In order to meet the programme, the contract was negotiated with the Contractor from the previous scheme and planning submitted in parallel with the detailed design information. This was possible as the design of the new building was to be based on the existing building. In addition to this, a number of workshops were held in order to streamline the construction. NVB and Melhuish & Saunders organised the internal furniture, fixtures and fittings all within the contract period.
The project started on site in spring 2013 and was completed within a year.
