St Helen’s School
NVB were commissioned to design a new sports facility comprising a sports hall and swimming pool together with associated dry and wet side changing facilities, a climbing wall and a dance studio.
The building is a single storey pool and sports hall which is linked with a 2 storey element housing the wet side changing rooms and the dance studio. The building has a piled construction being located on the clay belt of North London. The piles then carry the load of the building which is a combined steel and glulaminated structure which supports the steel roof. The design of the roof was developed so that there are no holes in the roof finish or the vapour barrier therefore reducing the risk of condensation in the structure.
