NLCS – Jeju
North London Collegiate School Jeju is one of the first schools to be constructed in the International Global Education City in the Self Governing Province of Jeju Island, a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site in South Korea. It was procured by the Jeju Development Corporation. We worked closely with NLCS (UK) to define the educational brief for the 1400 co-educational boarding school. The campus has a mixed junior school, a girls’ and a boys’ school and a mixed sixth form school. The school’s educational ethos, extensive extra curricular programme and pastoral care were intrinsic to the brief which also identified particular features that are referenced in the landscape and in the new school buildings.
The reference scheme designed by NVB Architects was developed by the South Korean team to completion and we visited the completed school as the first pupils were arriving.
