Opened by Karen Gibson from the Kingdom Choir, the new Music and Media Centre (now Michael Malnick Centre) provides a central hub for performing arts at the school.
Located immediately adjacent to the Grade II listed Old School it wraps around the existing school theatre providing new foyer and reception facilities in addition to music teaching, rehearsal space, practice rooms, live lounge, 6th form study and media suite. The project also includes landscaping of the forecourt in front of Old School and the creation of an external amphitheatre for summer performances.
The building is extremely low maintenance with zero roof penetrations, no flat roofs, and all gutters /downpipes located on the outside of the building. Acoustic ventilators are provided to practice rooms providing excellent sound separation between spaces.
Alumni include Richard Rodney Bennett and Laura Marling who attended the opening ceremony.
